He's an Ironman!

2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run. All in a row. He finished in 12:20 while it was still light! Wooo Hooo, go Eric!

The swim was great. He rented a "real" triathlon wet suit and there was a leader line to keep on course with. It was one of his best times ever!

The bike was chanllenging with a really hilly course and strong cross and head winds. Eric still managed a good time and passed many of the 1/2 iron competitors who had started their race later than his.

The run was as reasonable as a marathon at the end of an ironman can be. His strategy to take it slow and easy really paid off and he was able to run well and even pick it up a bit after the half. He finished a strong and cheerful 15th out of a field of 94.

The kids even had fun they played on a playground convieniently located right at the finish line where they met a bunch of other "triathlon orphans" (just kidding Eric balanced training pretty well with other stuff). They did his victory lap with him (Max on the unicycle :-) ). I had made shirts that said "GO DAD" on the front and we all cheered him through the transitions as well. It was a really great experience.

Pretty gross huh? Poor guy had a scooter accident that involved the concrete sidewalk and a lack of soes or helmet. It actually looks even worse today, his eye is swollen shut and its oozing ...stuff. He gets to stay home from school though and is quite happy about that. I wrote out the whole thing on my personal blog www.fromthebottomofmypencilcase.blogspot.com

Elder John Lund

I figured it was about time to make a post. I cannot get the elf yourself to work. Maybe it was a holiday thing. Anyway, here is a fantastic way to keep intouch with John while he is on his mission. It is DearElder.com It is easy to set up an account. It is free and quick. He is in the MTC until 11 Feb. to write him in the MTC his box number is 219, His mission info is Par-Asu and his estimated departure date is 11 Feb 08. Once he goes to Paraguay you just use the Paraguay Asuncion pouch they have on dearelder.com. They deliver and mail the letters same day if they are in by noon while he is in the MTC. Once he goes to paraguay they print and mail the letters in the pouch for free. You just type the letter and push send. No envelopes, stamps or addresses to remember Way Easy. We are using it almost every day. He likes it.
That is about all for us. John Jay is studying for the LSAT in June. Cami goes back to BYU in a few days. Sunnie is frantically doing homework that was suppose to be done over the break and I am in the middle of Mono. I am way behind on Christmas things. I will be mailing out Christmas cards today or tomorrow. We Love you all
